How to Understand Your Own Frame of Reference for Confident Conversations

FREE 1 Hour Workshop for building confidence in tricky conversations

Friday 31st October 2025 - 12:30pm

Why do conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion feel so daunting?

Often it’s because we’re unaware of the different frames of reference we each bring into every interaction.

In this 1-hour online workshop, inclusion specialist and TEDx speaker Katie Allen will introduce you to the ME frame of reference, the foundation of her ME–US–WE model for inclusion confidence.

By understanding how your own identity, lived experiences, and assumptions shape your perspective, you can build a stable base to speak from, and move from hesitation and caution to clarity and confidence.

In just 1 hour, you'll learn:

  • What frames of reference are, and how to know what’s shaping yours.

  • How your background, values, and beliefs influence what you see (and don’t see).

  • Why curiosity is key to avoiding the danger zones of "rigid knowledge" and practical tips to help you harness it

  • As well as time for some Q&A and conversations

This session is perfect for:

Team leaders, line managers, people leaders and HR professionals who want to begin to feel confident about tricky conversations, without the fear of putting their foot in it or having to compromise their values.

It has enabled me to discuss my biases, challenges and knowledge gaps in a psychologically safe environment, which has resulted in a quantum leap in understanding an area I previously knew very little about.
